This hood vent is UNIVERSAL but was designed with the E36 in mind and thus flows with the lines of the factory hood of both the coupe and sedan / compact E36 chassis. Its position is biased towards the front of the hood as opposed to sitting dead center. While the BMW E36 was the car in mind when development was underway, this hood vent can technically be used on most cars. Fitment is not guaranteed for other cars, as with any universal part, but plausible.
Not only does this vent follow the lines of the hood, but it also does its best to follow the curvature of the hood too. Other vents on the market are made and sold as completely flat pieces that you then have to force down onto your hood when install
When installing this hood vent, you'll find indents for hardware running along the edges of the vent. With these indents you won't have an unpleasant flap along the edges like other vents on the market.
These NEW vents are made of TPO. TPO is an ideal material for hood vents because it can withstand the heat and pressure of the engine compartment. It is also resistant to UV rays, so it will not fade or crack in the sun. TPO is superior to ABS when it comes to quality and resilience to heat and UV light.
The previous version of this hood vent was offered in fiberglass. This new release is made from TPO which is a blend of polypropylene and EPDM rubber, which makes it highly durable, impact-resistant, and resistant to UV radiation and chemicals. It is more heat resistant than even ABS. It is also lightweight and has good flexibility.
